Waiting on Wednesday (28)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. The purpose of the event is to spotlight the upcoming releases that readers are most looking forward to.

This week, I've chosen...
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Add it: Goodreads
Publisher: Dutton Juvenile
Release Date: January 10, 2012

Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 12, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.
NERDFIGHTER PRIDE!

I still have not ordered this one (I hope my copy has an anglerfish!) but I'm definitely intending to do that soon. I will say that this is not the cover I was expecting, especially after some of the AMAZING fan-made covers, but maybe it will grow on me.

  1. I haven't read a John Green novel yet *runs and hides before people hit her*.

I have wonderful things about his books, and this one does sound good.

  2. I've debated whether or not to pre-order it and take a chance on what the signature might look like, but I admit that looking through all the copies at the bookstore to see if any have anything special like a hanklerfish or a yeti (or the elusive one with both) holds a certain appeal.

Still. It sounds like a great book. :)
